A VISION, a FRIEND and a THANK YOU!

Chad highlighting needed changes
to a prototyped part.
Today’s blog topic goes out to a friend that helped me see my vision through. I approached Chad Shaffer with my idea to manufacture earth-friendly products. Meaning, the plastic we use is made from plants instead of tradition petroleum plastics made from drilling for oil. He saw my excitement, passion and direction and wanted to help. Chad is one of the most talented designers, engineers, product developers I have every worked with over my 17 years in manufacturing.

Working our first tradeshow in Las Vegas!
I told him that I could not match his pay or his vacation, but that was not going to hold him back.  He left a very secure job at a Fortune 500 company of 27 years to truly just help a friend. The plan was to get both feet into the canoe and see how fast we could get product to market. That journey really started in October of 2014.  Today, SelfEco has over 20 part numbers developed, several patents pending and compostable products being made and manufactured in the U.S.A!

A handful of SelfEco.com products that can be used and
thrown away with other organics and food for compost.
Landfill free events have never been easier or sexier!
Chad saw that we got to where we needed to go and wanted to continue to do what he does best… develop products. He went back to his job where his true passions were and my role is now to move SelfEco’s product.

A plantable pot that has plant food in
the walls of the container. No more
landfills and no more fertilizer. Look
for this product in our up and coming
Kickstarter campaign mid-December!

Working with a dear friend for 15 months was a blessing. We got a closer look at each other’s flaws and strengths. We shared many roller coaster rides from seeing first 3D printed prototypes to realizing we needed another 4 months of testing and certification. Our friendship got stronger as the common goal became more transparent. Using our talents and manufacturing to bring better and safer products to the people for the planet. We did it!
Chad, I thank you for being a great friend and for making SelfEco more than just a vision. It is now a true reality!
